The two enemies of weight loss
We pride ourself on hard work. Smart people are admired for their thinking abilities. America was build by hard working, thinking men and women. It is no wonder why so many people thing weight loss takes intense thought and hard work. It is engrained into our society. Schools teach the virtue of smart thinking and hard work. It is evident in the emphasis schools place on creativity and intense study. If we are trained in being creative, smart and hard working, why does weight loss elude us?
Hard work and thinking are the two enemies of weight loss. The reason people fail at losing weight and being fit is the ammount of effort applied to it. In the world of weight loss hard work and deep thought are your worst enemies. Think of them as the two horsemen of your belly.
You are probably confused and angry by my above statements. You have good cause to be. All you life you have been hearing you are lazy because you are fat. That you don’t care about you self. You know you work hard and you have tried everything under the sun to lose the poundage, and you are frustrated. You probably have heard that losing weight and being fit is not about dieting, but about changing your lifestyle. This is true, and you cannot escape this fact. Personally, i could not fathom having to work my ass off everyday, for the rest of my life just to stay slim. It is absurd and cannot be done. Permanent weight loss will not be achieved through hard work and thought.
Weight loss and fitness requires two things completely different than hard work and thought. Weight loss requires time and persistence. To lose weight and keep it off permanently, you need only make small, consistent changes over a long period of time. You must go slow and easy. Pick up one healthy habit at a time. See http://www.inru.in/?p=13 on how to form habit. You need to commit these healty habits. If you have to thing about going something healthy, you are not changing, all actions must become habit.
This article outlines it more clearly: http://www.inru.in/?p=64
The more you have to work and think, the more stress you are putting on yourself. Changing is hard on the body. Losing weight and becoming healthy will cause your body stress. While your body is stressing you shouldn’t stress out you mind. You will burn youself out and you will fail. The less you have to work on something, the less stress it produces. You goal is to create a life where excercise and eating correctly are habit. More so, your goal is to find the foods and activities that make you happy. Forceing youself to do something you hate is bad. There are thousands of healthy foods and activities, you just need to find those that you like. Doing something you like is not hard work and it takes little thought to do it. If you like it, it will become habit.
Your goals are simple now. Dont over work or over think. Take the time to find healthy things that you like and persistently convert them to habit. It is only that simple.

Of course i considered other viewpoints. This is one viewpoint, and one that i successfully use. For a person simply trying to change an unhealthy life style, this works. For someone wishing to train for a marathon, it may not.
